Helping Hand provides financial grants of $550 to current CDOT employees and retirees to cope with emergency needs during a crisis. Unforeseen emergencies arise from medical conditions, fire, death, and other difficult circumstances.

Eligibility: To be eligible, an applicant must be a current CDOT employee or retired from Colorado Department of Transportation.

No applicant will be denied eligibility on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, sexual preference, or other non-meritorious factor.

Grants are not awarded to pay for debt consolidation, credit card payments, litigation, poor financial planning, non-essential items, wage garnishments, taxes, bail, expenses related to vehicles, phones, cable services, life insurance, or other non-emergency expenses.

Applications are strictly confidential; however, information may be verified. Every effort should be made to provide sufficient information in the application to avoid delays in review. Applications are typically handled on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Applications will be reviewed for eligibility and disbursements made at the sole discretion of the Board.

The Board reserves the right to make exceptions based on individual circumstances and availability of funds.
